Purpose

For major facade works.

Types of surfaces for painting

New or previously painted surfaces made of concrete, aerated concrete and asbestos-cement as well as plastered surfaces. Recommended for façade thermal insulation systems using mineral wool and polystyrene foam. Suitable for finishing surfaces that are frequently exposed to elements (for instance, socles). Recommended for use in industrial zones, seaside areas and rainy or snowy regions. Not suitable for surfaces treated with lime and silicate products (plaster or paints).

Quality standards

  • EN 13300 [Paints and varnishes. Water-borne coating materials and coating systems for interior walls and ceilings. Classification] – classification standards of coverage, gloss level and wet abrasion resistance parameters for water-borne coating materials for interior walls and ceilings.
  • ISO 11 998 [Paints and varnishes -- Determination of wet-scrub resistance and cleanability of coatings], ISO 2813 [Paints and varnishes -- Determination of specular gloss of non-metallic paint films at 20 degrees, 60 degrees and 85 degrees] – techniques for measuring gloss and wear resistance parameters.
  • EN 1062-1 [ Paints and varnishes. Coating materials and coating systems for exterior masonry and concrete. Classification] – standards establishing the parameters for coating materials and coating systems for exterior masonry and concrete.
  • VOC (volatile organic compounds) – content in accordance with the European Union directive 2004/42/CE.
  • Product and service quality is guaranteed by the quality, environmental protection, occupational health and safety management system in accordance with standards ISO 9001:2015; ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Surface preparation before painting

The surface to be painted must be carefully cleaned from peeling material, loose material, salt efflorescence, dirt, dust, grease and oils. Pressure washing or sandblasting is recommended to remove the old coating entirely and eliminate major fouling. Reinforcement and other metal elements must be cleaned from rust, coated with antirust primer immediately and cemented.
The surfaces that get wet so often that mould can develop there must be treated with Biotol E or Biotol Spray before painting. Non-porous smooth surfaces must be sanded to provide roughness. Small cracks, cavities and holes must be filled with the non-cement Face Filler putty and painted in 3–14 days depending on the thickness of the applied putty coating. We recommend curing new concrete structures and freshly plastered surfaces for one heating season before painting. In case cement or cement-lime mortar has been used for façade repairs, the repaired surface must be cured for at least 1 month before painting.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before application.
The paint can be diluted with water in the amount of up to 5% of its volume for the application of the first coat.
Apply 2 coats with a roller or by airless spraying.

Care for the painted surface

The coating will reach its peak wash resistance in about 4 weeks: during this period, treat the surface with care until its hardness and wash resistance have reached their peak levels.
If necessary, the surface can be lightly wiped with a soft sponge or cloth approximately 48 hours after paint application. We recommend using water and neutral or medium alkaline detergents (pH below 9).
Do not use organic solvents, abrasive cleansers and hard scrubbing brushes or sponges.
Use Biotol E and Biotol Spray to remove mould.

Tools

Brush, roller, airless spray gun (nozzle: 0.026–0.031'', pressure: 150–180 bar).

Tool cleaning

Wash with soap and water after completing work.

Colour

Colour White.

Tinting

Machine tinting according to the Eskarocolor system (bases А, TR).

Consumption

4–8 m2/L per coat, depending on the roughness and absorption capacity of the substrate.

Drying time

At the temperature of +20°C and the relative humidity of 50%, the coat dries and the surface is ready for the application of another coat in 6–12 hours.
Store and transport in intact containers at the temperature between +5°С and +30°С. Protect from exposure to freezing and direct sunlight.
