Surface preparation
The surface must be dry, durable, free of sand, dust, dirt, oil (grease), fungus (mold). Previously painted surfaces must be cleaned of old peeling material, treated with sandpaper and rinsed with water. Surfaces that have been cleaned of mold (mildew) and also subject to constant exposure to moisture should be treated with an anti-mold agent, such as Biotol or Biotol Spray, according to the instructions. To reduce the consumption of varnish and increase the protective effect, the highly absorbent porous mineral surfaces must first be primed with a penetrating finely divided primer, for example, Aquastop Expert, Aquastop Strong.
Application
Mix the varnish. If necessary (to obtain a convenient consistency), dilute with water to 3%.
Apply with a brush, roller, swab, spray at an air temperature of varnish and surface from + 5 ° C to + 30 ° C and relative humidity not higher than 80%. When applying varnish, it is good to grind it on the surface, avoid puddles. Apply 1-3 coat of varnish, depending on the density and absorbency of the surface, as well as the desired visual effect. To achieve a protective effect, it is enough to apply 1 coat of varnish to the surface (highly absorbent porous surfaces must first be primed with a finely dispersed penetrating primer). To obtain the “wet stone” effect on the surface, it is necessary to apply 2-3 layers of varnish. Apply the second and subsequent layers 2 hours after applying the previous layer. It is not recommended to apply varnish in the wind, in direct sunlight, as well as during the rain and fog without the use of special membrane fences that limit the influence of atmospheric influences, as this can lead to coating defects. The coating is ready for use 24 hours after applying the varnish. Final coating strength: after 4 weeks. It is recommended to re-treat the surface with varnish after 5-6 years, depending on the influence of atmospheric factors. Surfaces subject to intense mechanical stress and strong weathering are recommended to be treated annually. The color of the surface coated with tinted varnish depends on the amount and thickness of the applied varnish layers, as well as on the color of the substrate and its absorbency. The last coat should be applied with a non-tinted varnish.
